Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 March 2026

1. Who we are

Hoodi is a free UK neighbourhood intelligence service operated at hoodi.co.uk. For privacy enquiries, contact us at hello@hoodi.co.uk.

We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as required under UK data protection law.

2. What data we collect

Hoodi does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use the service.

The following data is collected automatically when you use the site:

  • Server logs: Standard web server logs (including anonymised IP addresses, request paths, and timestamps) are processed by our hosting provider, Vercel. These are used for security and service operation only and are not retained long-term by us.
  • Analytics data: We use Vercel Analytics to collect anonymised, aggregated data about site usage — including page views, referrer, approximate country, and device type. No cookies are used for analytics. No personally identifiable information is stored. This data is used solely to understand how the site is used and to improve it.

3. What we do not collect

  • We do not collect your name, email address, or contact details unless you contact us directly.
  • We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies.
  • We do not sell, share, or rent your data to third parties.
  • We do not build individual user profiles.

4. Cookies

Hoodi currently uses no non-essential cookies. Vercel Analytics is cookieless by design. If we introduce advertising or additional analytics in future, we will update this policy and add a cookie consent mechanism before doing so.

5. Third-party services

Vercel — our hosting and analytics provider. Vercel processes server requests and provides anonymised analytics. See Vercel’s Privacy Policy.

Government data APIs — when you search a postcode, your postcode is sent to UK Government APIs (Environment Agency, Police.uk, MHCLG, Ofsted/DfE, DfT) to retrieve data. These are public APIs; postcodes are not personal data.

We may add further third-party services (such as advertising networks) in future. This policy will be updated before any such addition, and cookie consent will be obtained where required.

6. Legal basis for processing

We process anonymised usage data under our legitimate interest in operating and improving the service (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). We do not process any special category personal data.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to processing
  • Lodge a complaint with the ICO at ico.org.uk

Because we collect no identified personal data, most of these rights are not practically applicable to typical usage. However, if you have contacted us directly and wish to exercise any right, email hello@hoodi.co.uk.

8. Data retention

Vercel Analytics data is aggregated and anonymised — it cannot be tied back to individuals. Standard server logs are retained by Vercel in accordance with their data retention policies. We do not retain server logs ourselves.

9. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy when our data practices change — particularly before introducing any advertising, new analytics, or new data collection. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
